Gather all the Rescue Heroes!
All Rescue Heroes gather! Because on August 15 and 16 a major operation will take place at Aviation Theme Park Aviodrome in Lelystad with the theme of rescue and extinguishing! Complete with various and unusual firefighting/rescue trucks and aircraft, cooperation of police, fire department and ambulance and for the little ones: Fireman Sam!
The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM) and the ANWB are also cooperating in this spectacular event. The ANWB will be present during Aviodrome Rescue Heroes with the Lifeliner, or trauma helicopter. They have been flying in the Netherlands for more than 20 years, are on standby 7 days a week and 24 hours a day, and make more than 4,200 flights a year.
Catalina
Many more special aircraft and vehicles are coming to Aviodrome especially for Rescue Heroes. What about ambulances, the Amorak and certainly the Catalina? This Consolidated PBY-5A, or Catalina for short, is a flying boat that can land on water as well as on a runway. The Catalina was used by various armed forces from the 1936s until well after World War II including the Dutch Navy.
Bell 47
The Bell 47 (a two-bladed light helicopter known from the television series MASH) will also be on display during Rescue Heroes, as will the Forest Fire Department's US Ladder Trucks. At the Animal Ambulance, children can take care of their own stuffed animal. Two US police cars and two US police motorcycles will also attract attention. The same goes for the Supermarine Spitfire aircraft that will arrive and depart again on Sunday.
Zerlegebetrieb
There are plenty of fun activities during Aviodrome Rescue Heroes. Take part in the workshop of the fire department and/or KNRM, get your face painted, take a look inside a real ambulance, have your picture taken with the VW Amorak of the Marechaussee, meet Fireman Sam and go back in time with Living History groups! The purpose of these groups is to keep military history alive by depicting units from military history. Also of interest is the lecture on the Zerlegebetrieb by Peter van Kaathoven.
Pilots and flight attendants scavenger hunt
Children, of course, participate in the new pilot and stewardess scavenger hunt and get their license in the process! A guided tour of the museum and the outdoor area is also a possibility. The Singing Hairdressers provide the musical note!
Fireman Sam
So Fireman Sam also comes to visit. This brave fireman, known from Telekids, experiences exciting adventures with his friends over and over again. On August 15 and 16 you can meet him for real at Aviodrome.
